Frankly, I’m not really good at knowing a lot about beauty. I’m better at finding cheap flights and planning trips. I might not know the differences between BB Cream and CC Cream or the uses of different brushes. But, I’ve found products that make my face look good and make me feel beautiful. Creating a simple everyday makeup routine for busy mornings is all about prioritizing key steps and using versatile products. With a few minutes and the right products, you can enhance your natural beauty and face the day feeling confident, even on the most hectic mornings. However, achieving a simple and polished look doesn’t have to be time-consuming. With a few key steps and minimal products, you can create a fresh and natural appearance that complements your busy lifestyle. Here are the things I like to use every day.
Step 1: Face Wash
Using face wash before putting on makeup is important. It’s a simple but necessary step to make sure your makeup looks good and lasts a long time. When you clean your skin before applying makeup, you create a fresh and balanced base. This helps your makeup work well and stay on longer. Don’t forget this important step – it lets your natural Beauty stand out!
How to Use Face Wash in Your Daily Makeup Routine:
Select a Suitable Face Wash:
- Choose a face wash that suits your skin type. Whether you have oily, dry, or combination skin, there are specific products designed to address your needs.
Morning Cleansing Ritual:
- Wet your face with lukewarm water.
- Apply a small amount of face wash onto your fingertips.
- Gently massage the cleanser in circular motions, focusing on areas prone to oiliness or dryness.
- Rinse thoroughly with water and pat your face dry with a clean towel.
Follow with Moisturizer:
- After cleansing, apply a moisturizer suitable for your skin type. This helps to keep your skin hydrated and creates a smooth base for makeup application.
Step 2: Face
After I put on the primer and moisturizer, I use my foundation. I prefer the powder one instead of the liquid because it gives me more coverage, feels lighter, and doesn’t make my face oily by the end of the day. After that, I apply bronzer and blush. I choose between the colors “Beauty” and “Beauty” for my blush, depending on what I want. beautywithhollie.com/category/makeup/face as for highlighter, I switch between two products: palette and wet n wild highlighting powder.
After I dry my face, I always put on a toner, especially on days when my acne is acting up. Then, I use moisturizer and eye cream. At night, I use Overnight moisturizer. Once I moisturize, I use primer. Most of the time, I skip it because I don’t see much of a difference with or without it. But when I do use it. It helps me look less shiny on hot summer days. To cover up my dark circles, I use Concealer.
Step 3: Eyes
My most favorite part of getting ready is doing my eye makeup, and I like to switch it up often! Unfortunately, the eye shadow palettes I usually use, like the Rose Gold palette the Essential Eye Palette are no longer available. When it comes to eyeliner, I really enjoy using Stick Eyeliner.
For my mascara routine, I start by using a lash primer, then apply Volume Mascara on my top lashes, and finish it off with the Almay One Coat Multi-Benefit Mascara. I find that using this combination gives me the thickest and longest lashes. I begin by putting on eye primer, and then I go straight to doing my eyebrows. While I’m working on my eyebrows, the eye primer dries and is all set for me to use when I’m ready. My eyelids get oily, but this primer works like glue. Once I put it on, my makeup stays put. Another one I like is the Eye Shadow Primer Potion. It’s not as strong and better for sensitive eyes.
Step 3: Base Makeup
After finishing my eye makeup, I move on to applying base makeup. Keep in mind that I’ve already prepared my skin. I begin with the Nude Foundation, which has a wonderfully soft and velvety texture, providing a natural-looking finish without drying out the skin. Once my foundation is done, I move on to concealer. There are loads of good concealers out there from drugstore concealers to concealers for mature skin. I apply concealer under my eyes and on any spots and discoloration.
Step 4: Setting powder
The trick with setting powder is to apply it before your base sets and dries. It’s far more effective when the setting powder actually does the setting of the makeup. One of my go-to setting powders It doesn’t look cakey on the skin, keeps oil at bay all day, even around the T-zone and best of all, it doesn’t dry out the skin.
I use the puff from setting powder to apply it, you can use a brush but a puff gives it a stronger set. That being said, you can use any puff.
Step 5: Contour and Brush
Mastering contour application has always been a breeze for me, thanks to the natural prominence of my cheekbones. However, the real challenge lay in discovering the ideal contour shade for my fair complexion—something neither too orange nor too red.
It took me a decade, but I eventually stumbled upon a product that complements my skin tone perfectly, streamlining my morning routine. Bronze and Glow has become my go-to, offering the ideal shade.
On a daily basis, I exclusively use the contour shade, wishing it were available for individual purchase. Its effortless application ensures a subtle look that never appears overwhelming, a hint of blush on the apples of my cheeks, along with a touch on my forehead and chin, adds a delightful burst of color without being excessive. A touch of blush on the apples of your cheeks can provide a healthy and natural flush. Choose for peachy or rosy tones for a subtle pop of color.
Final Step: Lip
As a self-confessed makeup lover, lipsticks are an essential part of my makeup routine! But, there are rules to the game. Wear the right lipstick and it will elevate your look and tie all your makeup. And unfortunately, the visa-versa is true too, I’m sure I’m not the only one who had to learn that the hard way. It’s not the shade alone that can make or break your look. Your lipstick needs to be hydrating enough for your lips, to ensure they stay smooth the whole day. This is especially important for dry and aging lips which tend to need that extra nourishment.
I’ve put together some of my favorite lipsticks that have given me confidence in wearing lipstick, they aren’t only my favorites, they’re recommended by the experts themselves- the makeup artists! Before diving into lip color application, it’s crucial to prep your lips. Exfoliate them gently to remove any dead skin, using a lip scrub or a soft toothbrush. Follow up with a hydrating lip balm to create a smooth canvas for your lip makeup.
